:: Microsoft Zune

The mp3 player industry is about to be turned on its wheel! A new Mp3 player is slated to be on the market in November, just in time for the holiday rush. Zune, which is manufactured by Microsoft, will be the first true competition that the Apple iPod has seen.

Zune will provide the same music features as the iPod, but it is expected to evolve into a “connected entertainment” device. Unlike traditional Mp3 players, Microsoft’s Zune will have a larger screen with higher resolution. A few of its components will be better graphic capabilities, WIFI, and a powerful hard drive system that can possibly support a portable gaming system. Microsoft’s Zune is slated to not only rock the mp3 arena as well as providing a perfect alternative for potential iPod owners.

There are many rumors that are circulating but one thing that is for certain is that Microsoft has big plans for Zune. In fact, rumor has it that the device could be adapted for use as a portable game player, which shall possibly force iPod to develop a new device. Currently the only games available for an iPod are text games, although you can install Linux to be able to play about eight “normal” games. This is not suggested and it doesn’t always work especially if you have a 4th generation iPod.

Several iPod accessory manufacturers will be offering items designed specifically for Microsoft’s Zune. Like Apple’s iPod, this player will have the ability to extend its use by purchasing adapters and other items not yet disclosed. mp3playeraccessories.net’s goal is to continually provide the latest products for mp3 players. Therefore, we will be excited offer all of the latest gadgets and gizmos available for this new Microsoft product.

There are numerous rumors surrounding Microsoft’s Zune and its potential. It is suggested that the screen will be 3.75” screen, which is larger than iPod’s. Some of this talk includes the integration of a social network, which is similar to X-Box Live. This would allow users to share their music over this network. Individuals could listen to tracks, but would not obtain a downloaded copy. Undoubtedly, this revolutionary service will lead to bigger and better accessories.

Another fast moving rumor regarding the launch of Zune is Microsoft’s offer to transfer any songs purchased on iTunes to your new player. Essentially, Microsoft will pay the fees to “buyout” accounts on iTunes. Microsoft’s concern is that individuals will be more willing to part with their iPod, if they don’t lose their downloaded music. This could be the largest selling factor.

It is rumored that Microsoft’s Zune will come in several different styles as well as have color options available. One name that is floating around is Pyxis, which is supposed to be comparable to the Apple iPod Nano. One of the differences between Pyxis and Nano will be that Pyxis will offer video capabilities.

On the developing side it is said that Microsoft’s Zune may make it much cheaper for the outside accessory developers to make their products. They will not have to pay for the “Made for iPod tax”. Therefore, enabling the products to be sold at a cheaper price to offset the rumored cost of the unit itself, which is said to be around $399.

In addition, Zune is expected to offer some type of radio feature. The rumor mill is still debating the exact specifics. However, the two most popular arguments include an FM tuner or satellite radio capabilities. Neither of these features is available on the iPod. Finally, the player will have the ability to connect to other Microsoft products, including the Xbox.

All rumors aside, it’s going to be an interesting year in the mp3 arena. Please check back with us frequently. We will keep you posted on all of the latest iPod and Zune toys and gadgets!
